Shake up your routine!!
Are you feeling stuck? Do you need to shake up your training routine?
There is no time like the present to get started, but sometimes not knowing where to start can hold you back. Do you ever head to the training field, ready to crack on with training your dog, only to realize that you need to stop whatever you're doing because you are stuck on where to head next?
Let me share with you a weekend that added some variety and fun into my training and it involved friends, dogs, food and maybe a bit of wine.
If you are like me, you often train on your own and while this can be peaceful, sometimes receiving a helping hand and feedback can be handy.
Four of my friends arrived for a training weekend and not only was it super helpful, but also SUPER fun. A welcome change from training on my own.
Training with someone can benefit you in so many ways:
Provide feedback
They can video
They can hold (set) sheep for you.
Revitalize your mindset.
I thought I would share with you one full training session we did that included each person holding sheep for another and we were spread out in a clover-leaf pattern in a 40 acre field. We each had hand-held radios.
I filmed the exercise to demonstrate how we practiced the outruns, lifts, and fetches while dealing with the challenging terrain of a creek and small hills. This isn't a professional grade video, but it does show how you can take advantage of having friends help you out while training.
I hope this post has given you a few new training ideas. . Some of these you may have tried and others will likely be new. Either way, there should be enough for you to dig in and revitalize your training time.
